Student Resources
We recommend that your purchase a student oriented travel guide before coming to Granada. There are many options for Nicaragua and Central America, including Lonely Planet, Let's Go,
Rough Guide, Moon Guide Nicaragua. Many of those also have on-line sites, which are invaluable for student travelers. Moon Guide Nicaragua co-author, Joshua Berman, also has an excellent site soley devoted to Nicaragua, http://www.gotonicaragua.com/ . For a wealth of general information about Nicaragua, two excellent websites are: www.vianica.com and www.ibw.com.ni/. Local newspapers in Spanish include La Prensa, Nuevo Diario, and Barricada. The Costa Rican English language newspaper, Tico Times, also publishes a shorter version for Nicaragua called Nica Times. There is also now a free English newspaper with printed and on-line editions: Nicaragua Post, at http://www.nicaraguanpost.com/. To learn about politics and solidarity work, check the website www.nicanet.org. Casa Xalteva staff can also give you plenty of information about things to do and see in Granada and throughout Nicaragua and Central America.
